Residential Care Worker - Full Time or Part Time

Temporary Full/Part-Time and Permanent Full/Part Time available
Varied. Guaranteed hours as above ranging from 32, up to 40 per week. Can be discussed at interview.
The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem. The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the resident’s independence and social skills. As the residential group homes are open all hours every day of the week, the hours of work for the position include awake nightshifts.

As per Collective Agreement - Grid Level 10

Requirements:
Valid Class 4 Driver's License (after 90 days of hire), First Aid and CPR, TB test results, Criminal Record Check as per Society Policy, Physician's Approval of Health (form provided,) Food Safe Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are required (can be obtained upon joining.) All positions require the successful candidate to provide proof of double vaccination against Covid-19, or a ratified exemption.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Certification in Human Services Worker, or relevant field an asset but not essential as full training is given. Prior experience working with people with developmental disabilities is helpful. Previous experience of working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging and/or aggressive behaviour is also an asset.
Must display a proven ability to calmly and effectively work with challenging and aggressive behaviour. Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disabilities and mental illness. Enthusiasm and energy is a must to be a contributing team member. Basic computer skills required.
Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job. Activities such as swimming, bowling, hiking etc. may be regular with our clients and care worker.
