The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem. The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the resident’s independence and social skills. Rivercity Inclusion is responsible for the operation of several permanent residential services. All of the homes have unique characteristics but share a caring, supportive environment to help residents achieve their optimum level of independence. Our residents are adults, living with developmental disabilities. As the residential group homes are open all hours every day of the week, the hours of work for the position include weekend and evening shifts (Shifts can start from 7am, you may be required to work a shift up until 11pm finishes. Typically staff work 12 hours .The typical shifts are; 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm and nightshift (awake) 11pm-7am. Hours vary up to 40 hrs/week with the opportunity to apply for permanent positions. Casuals must be available for weekend, evening, holiday and short notice shifts. As our Residential Care Worker is working within the person's home we are looking for caring, compassionate, respectful individuals who are passionate about supporting others.

As per Collective Agreement - Grid Level 10. Progressive salary increase (dependent on hours worked)

Requirements:
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License (Class 4 Driver's License will be required upon 90 days of hire,) First Aid and CPR, Negative TB test results, Criminal Record Check, Physicians Approval of Health, Food Safe Certification. Upon successful recruitment and selection process we will discuss how to obtain these. Costs associated with pre-employment requirements will be reimbursed upon successful completion of probation period.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field is beneficial but not essential. Full training will be given. Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer) working with people with developmental disabilities is an asset, full training will be given. Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and complex care needs, or be willing to learn. Have enthusiasm and energy to be a contributing team member. Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
