Position: Residential Care Worker
Nature of position:
18 hrs per week; 4.5 hrs/day Mon - Thur.
This is a 1:1 position
Rate of pay: As per Collective Agreement – $19.45
Location: Group Home in Campbell River
Valid Class IV Driver's License, current First Aid and CPR, current (every 3 years) TB test results, must have a current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, and a completed Physicians Approval of Health. Food Safe Certification and Non Violent Crisis Intervention are also required.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field. Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities. Must have specialized seizure management training and tube feed training and/or be willing to complete training. Performs the tasks of health care plans, including Delegation of Task, specifically seizure care plan, gastronomy tube care, gastrostomy tube meals, nebulized medication, prn medications. Utilizes assistive equipment as prescribed by rehabilitation therapists such as overhead lifts, custom wheelchair, and positioning devices. Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and complex care needs. Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member. Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
